First-Ever Baguio City Land Summit

Baguio City has major land problems that needed attention and this time Congressman Marquez “Mark” Go conducted the first-ever land summit in the city. This is intended to hear the woes and problems that the city is clamoring to be heard and the necessary first steps of action to be done.

This summit will aid to formulate a law to help address permanently the current mess in the Summer Capital.

Various issues have been tackled like the optimum use of government lands. The encroachment of settlers in watersheds, cadastral line of the city.  CALT claimants that need attention and the high percentage loss of forest reserve.

“The rampant privatization and constant expansion of private properties have endangered the delicate balance between environment and development. We must be reminded that if land is abused, so will be the water and the air that surrounds us, soon we will be chocking from the fumes and scents of urban decay and everything that will be discussed here today will be used to craft or amend existing laws to address the issues whether actual or potential,” -Mark Go

Most website news articles will only talk about the gist of the event. Luckily the office of Congressman Mark Go has provided me the presentation materials of the speakers. Thanks to the assistance of  Ms. Hannah Bagalawis providing the files.
